Piranhas Take Nail-Biter Over Grey Wolves
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves got a superb performance from pitcher Gerardo Pagán, but the Panama City Piranhas still won the game, 5-4. Pagán was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Panama City reliever Carlos Salcido picked up the win to move to 5-2. Terry Lesage suffered the loss. Panama City is 57-50 and Vancouver, with the loss, 55-52.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Brant Thigpen came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Vancouver pitcher Terry Lesage, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Panama City on top, 5-4.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Thigpen said.
