Stingers Throttle Lakers, 7-1
|
Toledo Stingers starter Ricky Sellers was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Echo Park Lakers, 7-1. Sellers, the winner, moves to 11-3. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 2 walks. Ricky McCauley notched his 8th save in 8 chances.
Grover Barbaran had a big run-scoring single for the Stingers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Toledo leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a splitter from Abdul-Nasir Rabah and stroked the single to left-center. It was his 80th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stingers ahead, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Stingers manager TJ Reynolds, "I like our chances."
The losses continue to add up for Echo Park, which has now fallen 9 times in a row.
