Oaks Get Close Win Over Lighthouse
|
In a low-scoring clash between Oakland and Long Island, pitcher Pedro Rodríguez was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Oakland in the 3-2 win. Jan Koistinen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 16 save opportunities. The 9th-place Oaks now have a 4-game winning streak.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Cornelius Adkison came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Long Island pitcher Valentin Calhamar, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Oakland on top, 3-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Adkison told the Oakland Daily News.
