Big Day by Wonder Sparks Dodgers Win
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Brooklyn Dodgers saddled the Oakland Oaks with a loss at Oakland Coliseum. The final score was 6-1. Tony Wonder, named player of the game, was 3 for 4, including 2 singles and 1 home run. The Brooklyn right fielder scored 1 run and drove in 4. Brooklyn starter Holden Rosen Grupp was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 8.1 innings. His record now stands at 14-3.
With Brooklyn leading 3-0 in the top of the seventh, Wonder hit a 3-run home run off Oakland hurler Matt Dunn. It was the 23rd home run of the season for Wonder and put his team ahead, 6-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Wonder. "And not try to do too much."
With the win over Oakland, the Dodgers improved to 58-41.
