Lakers Stumble, Lose to Stingers
|
The exploits of shortstop Grover Barbaran, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2038 draft, helped the Toledo Stingers defeat the Echo Park Lakers, 9-2. Barbaran went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The third-place Stingers lifted their record to 53-38.
Barbaran had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a full count slider from Felipe Filipe, he banged a 2-run single to left-center, giving the Stingers a 4-2 lead. It was the 61st hit of the year for Barbaran.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Barbaran told the Toledo Chronicle.
