Pandas Raise Rally Flag, Beat Vancouver, 9-6
|
Montana withstood an impressive performance by Vancouver left fielder José Arras to defeat the Grey Wolves, 9-6, at Panda Park. Arras went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Montana reliever José Sipe was the winner. His record is now 5-1. The losing pitcher was Terry Lesage. Montana now owns a record of 31-43.
Gene Ricks was 1-2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs for Montana. In the bottom of the eighth, with the teams deadlocked, 5-5, Ricks delivered for the Pandas. His run-scoring walk put Montana on top, 6-5.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Ricks told a Montana Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
