The Pittsburgh Kingfishers eked out a 6-5 win versus the Long Island Lighthouse at Pittsburgh Grounds. Nobody did more than center fielder Gerrie Bond, who captured player of the game honors. Pittsburgh has a 3-game win streak, while Long Island has lost 3 in a row.

Bond had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 fastball from Will Hunting, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Kingfishers a 6-5 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Bond.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Bond. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
