Both teams had their chances, but the Long Island Lighthouse eventually prevailed at Cloverdale Legion Park.
The Long Island Lighthouse took Kingston Township pitcher Zebulon Vermillion's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Cloverdale Legion Park. The final score had Long Island getting past the Knights, 3-2. Vermillion went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 7. Reliever Mac Hippenhammer picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. David Blake took the loss.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the eighth inning. Facing Kingston Township hurler Jacob Messer, Daniel Joseph drew a walk. The Lighthouse went on to win.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Kingston Township manager Rayzor Ray.
Long Island currently is in third place in the Third League at 27-19.
