Piranhas Rally to Eke Out Win

The Panama City Piranhas did just enough to sneak past the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 3-2, at The Tank. Panama City pitcher Gunner Cross earned player of the game honors. The Piranhas, at 27-16, lead by one game in their division.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Ashley Thachi came to bat in the bottom of the 14th. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Pierre Delecto, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Panama City on top, 3-2.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Panama City manager Brian Talamante said.
