Threlfall Slugs Stingers to 6-2 Win
|
Toledo right fielder Lester Threlfall made his presence felt in the 6-2 Stingers triumph over the Oakland Oaks. Threlfall hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Toledo reliever Jessie Young picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jesús Gonzáles absorbed the loss. The third-place Stingers improved to 17-14.
With Toledo leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Threlfall hit a changeup from Ray Goolsby for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Stingers ahead, 5-0.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Threlfall said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
