McCoy has 3 hit day, Knights Move to 19-11
|
The Kingston Township Knights defeated the Pittsburgh Kingfishers, 9-2, in Menard's Third League action at Pittsburgh Grounds. Daniel McCoy received player of the game honors. The 11-year veteran was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Jin-oong Mae, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held Pittsburgh to 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 7.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. The Knights move to 19-11 with the win, while the Kingfishers drop to 12-18.
McCoy contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Kingston Township in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, McCoy took a fastball from Marvin Martin and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Knights to leap in front, 3-1.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Kingston Township manager Rayzor Ray.
