Today Hayes Rutherford of the Durham Rapiers had a sensational game against Casper at Rapiers Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 3-2 shellacking of the Ghosts. In the postgame press conference, he joked that he was going to take the rest of the week off. "I did all my hitting in one day -- what else do they want from me?" he said with a laugh. Hayes Rutherford walked in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Norberto Huerta in the 9th, singled in the 11th, struck out in the 13th and walked in the 15th.
