Goleta and López Suspended for Free-for-All Tuesday, August 16th, 2039 Yesterday at Rapiers Ballpark Jaxton Goleta and Cristóbal López got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Durham Rapiers and Lancaster Farmers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Goleta will have to sit out 3 while López would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. On the season, Goleta is batting .307 with 4 home runs and 27 RBIs. He has played in 57 games. So far this season López has 2 wins and 3 losses and a 6.27 ERA. |
