Bates Socks it to Fighting Imps, Cracks 5 Hits Tuesday, August 9th, 2039 Durham center fielder Kevin Bates had a day to remember today, 5-for-5 against the Ithaca Fighting Imps at Rapiers Ballpark as the Rapiers picked up a 12-4 victory. "He was patient up there today," Durham skipper Emílio Sáenz told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly aggressive. Bates has a tendency to chase bad balls sometimes." Kevin Bates singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Greg O'Day in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Reid Myers in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
