Bates Socks it to Fighting Imps, Cracks 5 Hits
Tuesday, August 9th, 2039
Durham center fielder Kevin Bates had a day to remember today, 5-for-5 against the Ithaca Fighting Imps at Rapiers Ballpark as the Rapiers picked up a 12-4 victory.
"He was patient up there today," Durham skipper Emílio Sáenz told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly aggressive. Bates has a tendency to chase bad balls sometimes."
Kevin Bates singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Greg O'Day in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Reid Myers in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Bates is hitting .295 with 91 hits, 16 home runs, 46 RBIs, scored 71 runs and played in 74 games.
