Whiteside Wins SAA Player of the Week Trophy Monday, July 11th, 2039 23-year-old Ed Whiteside made a few Yakima headlines during this past week as the rookie third baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USSL Double A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 6 hits in 10 at-bats to put up a .600 average. Whiteside collected 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and scored 3 runs. This year Whiteside has collected a .267 batting average to date with 32 hits in 120 at-bats, 22 RBIs, 7 home runs and scored 20 times. He has played in 37 games. |
