SL AA Championship Game 1 Victory for Penton and Casper
John Penton and the Casper Ghosts opened the SL AA Championship in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting Irving Blue Sox at The Graveyard 7-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Penton, the Ghosts left-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 8 innings of shutout ball.

In his 113-pitch effort, Penton allowed no earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings. He walked 0 and struck out 9.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Casper Ghosts (probably) 2039 SL AA Championship Champions'," Penton told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at The Graveyard in Casper. Slated to start are Donnie Rawling for the Irving Blue Sox and Tomás Mata for the the Casper Ghosts.
