The Whales grabbed a win, 3-2, at Sixshooters Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Westwood pitcher Neil Young. Young went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. The winner was Arvid Alberink in relief. His record improves to 12-3. José Martínez took the loss. The Whales raised their record to 51-48.
Keith Pick made it 3-2, Virginia Beach, in the top of the eighth when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It was a big at-bat in the Whales win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Pick said.
