Winston Helps Blue Sox Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Irving Blue Sox defeated the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 7-3. Earning player of the game honors was right fielder Brenton Winston, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Napoleon Vitagliano closed the door for Irving, picking up his 11th save of the year. Irving has now won 3 straight, while the Youth have lost 3 in a row.
Winston made an early impact for Irving when he stroked his 8th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came in the bottom of the second, put the Blue Sox on top, 4-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Winston told the Irving Herald.
