Sixshooters Cut Down Hops, 5-1
|
Westwood starter Dan Bond put a stranglehold on the Yakima offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Sixshooters to a 5-1 win. Bond, the winner, moves to 10-6. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. The third-place Sixshooters improved to 51-44.
Westwood relied on the hitting of Timo Zwiefelhofer to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 2-0. For the game, Zwiefelhofer had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Westwood manager Chua-kah Liu. "Our pregame was pretty good."
