Rapiers Trounce Blue Sox, 14-0
|
The Irving Blue Sox and Durham Rapiers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Blue Sox Ballpark.
Rapiers left fielder Lonnie Baker put his stamp on his team's 14-0 win over the Irving Blue Sox. Baker was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Durham in the contest. Bill Tennant got the win, improving to 6-8. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 1 and walking 1.
In the bottom of the eighth, Duff Eckstein stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Blue Sox were trailing 11-0, but had the bases loaded. That's when Alex O'Dell made a terrific pitch and Eckstein lined out. Gone was the dream of a Irving comeback.
Durham now has a 4-game win streak.
