Rapiers Continue Skid Thanks to Gómez, Whales
The exploits of third baseman Jesús Gómez, who is tied for 6th in the SAA with a .500 slugging percentage, helped the Virginia Beach Whales defeat the Durham Rapiers, 6-0. Gómez went 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The 6th-place Rapiers have lost 4 straight games.

Virginia Beach used the timely hitting of António Delgado to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Whales on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
