The Northville Eclipse and Durham Rapiers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Old-Timers Park.
With second baseman Jaxton Goleta leading the charge, the Durham Rapiers defeated the Northville Eclipse, 4-1, at Old-Timers Park. Goleta, who is tied for 9th in the SAA with a .389 on-base percentage, was 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Durham is now 39-37, Northville 37-39.
It could have been a different outcome for Durham, had it not been for Kevin Bates, the 25-year old center fielder . Bates contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Durham up, 3-1.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Northville skipper Thomas Kemp, "and it cost us."
