Fighting Imps Clip Farmers in Tight Contest
|
Lancaster pitcher Maximiano Agostinho gave the Fighting Imps all they could handle, but in the end, Ithaca left Farmers Field with a 6-4 win. Agostinho allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings. Jimmy Whitney picked up the save for Ithaca, his 3rd of the year. The Fighting Imps saw their win-loss record go to 23-43. At the same time, the Farmers fell to 30-36.
Ithaca used the timely hitting of Adrian Chandler to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fighting Imps on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Chandler told the Ithaca News.
