Late Rally by Whales Secures Win
The Virginia Beach Whales beat the Westwood Sixshooters, 5-4, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Virginia Beach third baseman Pat Geldart earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. The winner was Virginia Beach reliever Olaf Solleveld, now 3-1. The loser was Tyrone Poole. Kenny Hunt earned the save for Virginia Beach, his 3rd of the year.

Xavier Mercier, who is tied for 5th in the SAA with a .869 OPS, helped out the Virginia Beach cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the catcher was 1-4.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mercier said.

The Whales now have a record of 34-28 with the win over Westwood.
