Tight Tilt Goes to Sixshooters, 4-3
|
Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Juan Carlos Vázquez, the Westwood Sixshooters defeated the Irving Blue Sox, 4-3. Vázquez went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Sixshooters. Westwood reliever Christian Rose was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Ralph Minor took the loss for Irving. At 30-27, the Sixshooters are currently 4th in the Silver AA.
Westwood relied on the hitting of Derek Kelly to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sixshooters on top, 4-1. For the game, Kelly had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We did a lot of things right," said Kelly.
