Youth Fall Short, 3-2, at Irving
|
Greg Hodge pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Phoenix Hotspur Youth, despite Hodge's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Irving Blue Sox at Blue Sox Ballpark. Donnie Rawling got the win, improving to 4-1. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Napoleon Vitagliano earned the save, his 7th.
Irving center fielder Brian Harmon contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a slider into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the Blue Sox ahead, 3-0.
"I like our moxie," said Blue Sox manager Bill Clark.
Irving now sits in first place in the Silver AA at 24-17.
