Rapiers Get Close Win Over Youth
|
The Durham Rapiers knocked off the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 10-9, at Rapiers Ballpark. Lonnie Doble, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Durham won. The shortstop was 1-3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The save went to Curt Moore, his 7th this season. The Rapiers' win now puts them at 17-17.
Durham took a 10-9 lead on Doble's 11th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which he hit off Umebayashi Naofumi in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Durham to the win.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Emílio Sáenz.
