Blue Sox Topple Whales as Winston Shines
Irving right fielder Brenton Winston was instrumental in his team's 9-7 win over the Virginia Beach Whales. Winston, who is tied for 10th in the SAA in home runs with 4, went 4-5 with 4 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Blue Sox. Napoleon Vitagliano closed it out for his 4th save. The first-place Blue Sox raised their record to 13-9.

Irving used the clutch hitting of Ánibal Leobardo to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Blue Sox the lead, 7-5. For the game, Leobardo had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Winston said. "We did a good job of that today."
