Youth Get Close Win Over Farmers
|
The Phoenix Hotspur Youth beat the Lancaster Farmers, 8-6, at Farmers Field. The Youth got a fine performance from center fielder Nate Edwards, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. With the win, Phoenix Hotspur boosts its record to 7-7.
Phoenix Hotspur used the timely hitting of Hal Larson to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Youth ahead, 8-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We came out aggressive," said Youth manager Micheal Garren. "We came out swinging the bats."
