Whales Win in Extras
The Virginia Beach Whales faced a tough opponent in Lancaster pitcher Curt Pless, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Virginia Beach Grounds by a final score of 4-3. Pless went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Reliever Nicolaas de Jongh picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Bonifacio Navarro took the loss. The Whales, now 7-2, have been playing some good baseball.

Jamal Grant had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the 12th. The Virginia Beach center fielder came through with a run-scoring single to put Virginia Beach in front, 4-3.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Lancaster manager Luis Barroco.
