Matt Méndez took USPL Rookie by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 21.

For his spectacular campaign, the Valley View Cougars star has been named the 2037 USPL Rookie Most Valuable Player Award recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the center fielder.

On the season he compiled a .336 batting average to go with a .381 on-base percentage. The native of Oak Ridge, Tennessee also added 21 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 61 RBIs and 49 runs scored.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 10. Rafael Urrutiz of the Ladue Rams finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Brian Taylor of the Long Island Ducks finished third with 1 first place vote.
