Kiprop Batters Northville Big Time Tuesday, September 22nd, 2037 There was no storybook ending. Asbel Kiprop of the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles socked it to the visiting Northville Eclipse with a terrific 5-hit game today, but his team didn't get the win. The Screaming Eagles fell, 8-7, at Mercer Island Grounds. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Kiprop complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 7 at-bats. Mercer Island manager Richard Weaver sympathized with his center fielder, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Asbel played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Asbel Kiprop doubled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 10th, flied out in the 12th, singled in the 14th and singled in the 17th.
