Evergreens End Davis's Streak Friday, September 4th, 2037 It was a doubly miserable day today for Wilbur Davis of the Boston Patriots, as he saw his 21-game hitting streak end and his team lose 4-3 to the Portland Evergreens at Evergreen Park. The 33-year-old right fielder was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the Evergreens. "Anyone on a 21-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Portland manager Brandon Slouck said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done." This year Davis has socked 86 hits in 304 at-bats for a .283 average with 23 home runs. He is getting on base at a .319 pace and his totals also include 53 RBIs and 47 runs scored. |
