New Orleans Halts Papasogli's Hitting Steak Sunday, August 9th, 2037 Late in the game, all eyes in The Voodoo Lounge were on Joseph Papasogli as he stepped into the batter box. His 27-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Papasogli, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end. If there was a silver lining for Papasogli today, it was that his Las Vegas Flamingos won the game anyway, stopping the New Orleans Voodoo by the score of 6-4. "Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Papasogli told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 27 straight games. It's something I will always remember." This year Papasogli has hit at a .348 pace and produced 30 RBIs, 4 home runs and scored 39 runs. |
