van Aardschot Delivers Walk-Off Win for Evergreens
|
Portland Evergreens starter Robert Smalls was in fine form against the Philadelphia 1776 BC at Evergreen Park, leading his team to a 4-3 win. Portland reliever Vicente Durango picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Apollo Cepeda was collared with the loss. The BC fall to 8-10 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2037 season.
Henk van Aardschot was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Evergreens shortstop hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Nice win," said van Aardschot. "Not sure what else you want me to say."
