Pivotal Game Goes to Host Evergreens, 11-8
Portland designated hitter John Schaefer was the key at Evergreen Park today, being named player of the game as he powered the Evergreens to victory in a critical Game of the Round 2038. The Evergreens took the 11-8 win over the Charleston Battery to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.

Blaze Alexander hit a run-scoring double off Tony Alfonso in the bottom of the third, which put the Evergreens in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Alexander had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Portland manager Brandon Slouck said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played Tuesday in Charleston. Slated to start are Marcos Tejedor for Portland and Kyuichi Hori for Charleston.
