Charleston Wins Game in Extras; On Verge of R2039
|
The Charleston Battery went into extra innings against the Portland Evergreens but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2039 today. The Battery downed the Evergreens at Evergreen Park by a score of 4-3. Charleston right-hander Melvin Tiburcio was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Battery a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2038.
Tural Bishara had a nice at-bat for the Battery with no one out in the top of the 14th. With the bases empty, the left fielder drew a walk, which would prove important in the Charleston win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Tiburcio told the Charleston Daily.
The next game is scheduled for Sunday at Evergreen Park. Slated to start are Tony Alfonso for Charleston and Cristián Moreno for Portland.
