Game was big. So was Miguel Angel Martínez.

The Charleston starter rose to the occasion at Evergreen Park today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Battery to a crucial 4-0 victory over the Portland Evergreens. Martínez threw 7 innings of shutout ball as the Battery won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- Round 2038.

Martínez gave Charleston a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits over 7 innings.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Martínez. "Just do my job."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Portland. The scheduled starters for the game are Melvin Tiburcio for Charleston and Giovanni Mireles for Portland.
