Mercer Island Win Evens Series at 2
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and the Northville Eclipse will take the PL AA Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Screaming Eagles beat the Eclipse 10-1 at Old-Timers Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Mercer Island right-hander Raimo Kangas was named player of the game in the win after he threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball.
It could have been a different outcome for Mercer Island, had it not been for Rubén Vásquez, the 28-year old first baseman . Vásquez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Mercer Island up, 2-1.
"I liked his command," said Mercer Island manager Richard Weaver. "Raimo was throwing strikes."
Game 5 is set to be played Sunday at Mercer Island Grounds in Mercer Island. The scheduled starters for the game are Ricardo Fraga for the Northville Eclipse and Kelemeneke Balun for the the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
