Home Field Advantage: Bogdan, Mercer Island Open PL AA Championship with Win
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles started the PL AA Championship in style today, downing the visiting Northville Eclipse at Mercer Island Grounds by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Screaming Eagles right-hander Nicky Bogdan was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 2nd and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when center fielder Asbel Kiprop drew a walk. The Screaming Eagles went on to win.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Mercer Island manager Richard Weaver.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Devoid Couch for Northville and Aldo Ottens for Mercer Island.
