In a pivotal Game , the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids were hoping for a big game from starter Miguel Rubia. They got one.

The right-hander shut out the Boston Patriots, proving to be the difference-maker as he led his club to a 2-0 victory. The Rainbow Mermaids took the 2-0 win over the Boston Patriots to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.

Rubia allowed no runs over 8 innings. He also racked up 8 strikeouts.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Rubia said.
