Almost There: Boston On Cusp of R2038 Triumph After 3-1 Win
Boston Patriots manager Tyler Carter wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.

In front of a supportive hometown crowd today, 22-year-old first baseman Temaki Yuka humbled the visiting Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Dunkin Donuts Park. Yuka went 2-4 with 2 home runs as the Patriots shut out the Rainbow Mermaids by a final score of 3-1, to force a - tie in the best-of- Round 2038.

The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth when Yuka hit a solo home run. It propelled the Patriots into the lead, 2-1.

"It's a gut punch," Rainbow Mermaids manager David Lister said, "to get here and find ourselves down - in the blink of an eye."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dunkin Donuts Park. Slated to start are Ratko Davidovic for Northern Virginia and Alberto López for Boston.
