McCroskey, Coeur Sink Northern Lions BC Again in Game
|
An all-important Game of the United States Premier League Championship went into extra innings at The BFIB, with the St. Louis Coeur eventually emerging on top. St. Louis has Phil McCroskey to thank, after the right fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the 5-4 victory. The Coeur are now one game away from the Round 2, holding a - lead in the best-of- series.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Shimei Miura came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Thunder Bay pitcher Jefferson Suhendro, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 5-4.
"We haven't stopped playing," Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
