An all-important Game of the United States Premier League Championship went into extra innings at Washington Stadium, with the Greenville 84s eventually emerging on top. Greenville has José Torres to thank, after the shortstop was 4-6 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once in the 6-5 victory. The 84s are now one game away from the Round 2, holding a - lead in the best-of- series.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Torres delivered big-time for Greenville, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Roberto Silva. The game-changing hit put the 84s on top, 6-5.
"Obviously, we'd rather be at than - , but it's a long series," Divided manager Jonathan Gerth said. "We'll just have to pick up a game somewhere."
