Cougars Score Late, Upend Octopi, 5-3
|
With third baseman Denis Perrin leading the charge, the Valley View Cougars defeated the Ogallala Octopi, 5-3, at Nebraska Aquarium. Perrin, who is tied for 4th in the PR in triples with 5, went 2-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Cougars, now 50-45, have won 4 in a row.
Valley View used the timely hitting of Davey Grant to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cougars on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Perrin, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
