Ducks Deal Centennial Painful Loss
|
The Fort Knox Centennial got a superb performance from pitcher Il-gyung Chong, but the Long Island Ducks still won the game, 1-0. Chong was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Long Island reliever Felipe Deleón picked up the win to move to 5-2. Marcos Zambrano suffered the loss. Long Island goes to 62-32. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
Long Island took a 1-0 lead on Tomás Martí's 105th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Martí hit in the bottom of the 11th, left Fort Knox pitcher Ipe van Veldhuizen shaking his head.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Fort Knox manager António Molina.
