Shockers Get Close Win Over Ducks
|
The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Surprise fans at ïAbbots Ballpark.
The Shockers grabbed a win, 4-3, at ïAbbots Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Long Island pitcher Govaart van Ankeren. van Ankeren went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. Surprise now sits at 34-54, while Long Island falls to 58-30.
Ernest Lesley was the walk-off hero for Surprise. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Shockers designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Put a star next to this win," Lesley said.
