The Fort Knox Centennial topped the Indiana Lead Sox, 3-2, in USPL Rookie action at Ballpark of Baxter. The player of the game was Fort Knox pitcher and Las Cruces, New Mexico native Robert Taylor. In 6 innings, Taylor surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Today's win puts Fort Knox at 43-39, while Indiana falls to 28-54.
Byron Ballard, who is tied for 7th in the PR in extra base hits with 28, aided the Fort Knox cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Fort Knox manager António Molina.
