Both teams had their chances, but the Valley View Cougars eventually prevailed at Hillandale Grounds.

Valley View Cougars starter Mark Kirk was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Ogallala Octopi, 4-3. Kirk got the win, improving to 8-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Kirk allowed 3 earned runs. Esteban Sánchez locked down his 7th save.

The Cougars grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two out, Tyler Namaes hit a 2-run home run off Chris Rice, putting Valley View in front, 3-0. For Namaes, it was his 1st home run of the season.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Ogallala manager Soseki Matsunaga said following the tough loss.

Valley View is 4th in the Premier R with a record of 40-35.
