Late Rally by Cougars Secures Win
The Valley View Cougars topped the Ogallala Octopi, 4-3, in USPL Rookie action at Hillandale Grounds. The player of the game was Valley View pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic native Pepe Fontirroig. Fernando Mora got credit for the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The Cougars, at 39-35, sit in 4th place in the Premier R.

The Cougars were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when second baseman Ruhinda Kirkconnell turned a first pitch fastball from Karol van Kippersluis into a 2-run double. The walk-off double sent a roar through the crowd and gave Valley View a thrilling 4-3 win.

"This place was rockin'," said Kirkconnell.
